About
Some general background about me…
I have been working as a web developer since early 2000. I got into it whilst working for a small company in London. Part of my job was to update our website, which meant phoning up a web design company and asking them to make changes and then receiving a huge bill at the end of every month. I realised that if I could learn HTML then I could do it myself giving me more control and saving the company a small fortune. I bought a book on HTML and the rest is history.
In 2004 I set up my own business as a web developer building small static websites for small businesses and hobbyists. During this period I also did freelance work for other web design agencies which has given me a much broader understanding of the industry as well as different technologies and ways of working.
In 2005 I took up the post of Website Development Officer at the local college having responsibility for the corporate website as well as student and staff intranet systems. Since then I now do private web development work in my free time – mainly evenings and weekends.
In 2008, I studied the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s eMarketing Award and passed with flying colours – two grade A distinctions. This means that I not only know how to do all the techy stuff on a website but I also know how to make a site succeed and engage fully with its target audience – something you won’t find with most web developers.
When I’m not developing websites I’m a husband, father of two, guitarist and football fan.
